America is becoming more integrated with technology that guides our health habits. A common example is the use of biosensors (such as Fit Bit, etc.) that measure steps taken, calories expended, etc. To date there is no published data showing that the use of these devices improves weight management outcomes. However, these tools may be a reinforcement mechanism when used as part of a more comprehensive approach to weight management.
Take Home Message: Don't fool yourself into thinking your Fit Bit will solve your weight loss problems. The most sensible approach when it comes to losing weight is to practice evidence-based behaviors within a structured program and or support system.
